Domestic Sourcing

We are unique in the industry because we’re not just sourcing experts—we are manufacturing experts.  Charlie Lawton, president of Compass & Anvil has over 20 years of hands–on forging experience as the owner and on-site manager of Vulcan Forge, a hammer and press shop with it own die-making capabilities, renowned for making hand tools and other intricate closed-die forgings.  Vulcan Forge forged over five hundred different types of parts, from under one pound to over twenty-five pounds in various materials including carbon, alloy, and stainless steels, bronze, and aluminum.  Today, we work with some of the country’s most respected sources for high-quality. closed-die, open die, and upset forgings.

Why Clients Choose Compass-Anvil:
In forging, the client and the manufacturer are rarely--if ever—in the same room, so communicating clearly is always a challenge.  Compass & Anvil excels at using visual communication to make sure the message is always on-target.

“A yoke we were having manufactured was out of spec.  When Compass-Anvil took over the job, they emailed the plant engineer a CAD drawing to clear up some confusion over the location of the center point.   Drawings and prototypes are incredibly important when you’re working with a producer of forgings or other parts.  That kind of communication is critical when the client and the manufacturer are thousands of miles apart.” – Buyer, A Domestic Auto Aftermarket Manufacturer
